In the current climate of "Fake News" and the daily barrage of propaganda and created narratives. I started to wonder how much we are actually getting brainwashed. Let's start with a very simple misquote we all have probably heard and even said ourselves.
" Money is the Root of all Evil "
Well that IS NOT the actual quote. The quote is from Timothy 6:10 in the King James Bible; "The LOVE OF MONEY is the root of all evil"
Now while many think, no big deal... It does change them meaning and message being relayed. Changing it from a lesson on greed to something else. Now either we have known this and still choose to repeat/spread this misquote or misinformation.... or we just blindly repeated it without this knowledge.
Another example we hear repeatedly is The definition of insanity is... "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" This is NOT the definition. Look it up in any dictionary. This is a reported quote from Albert Einstein, yet the false "definition" is repeated by people in real life and on TV shows, movies, and print media alike. ( Can we even call them TV Shows anymore? )
Anyways, Let's apply this logic to today's messaging and how much we get told that someone said this or that they meant that, and put it into the context that we can be brainwashed much like the 2 examples described above and pull back a little and look at the information we being given through a better perspective.
Once we realize they are trying to manipulate us we can not fall for the first story we hear, but instead go hear what other people are saying. A Detective doesn't walk into the crime scene and take one person's statement and call it quits. "OK Case Solved ".
Is it sad that we have to play detective with the news cycle? Yes! However not doing so can turn us into the propagandist, blindly spreading the misinformation we say we can't stand.
